The Iowa Women’s Wrestling absolutely dominated at the NCWWC Region VII Championships in Indianola today. Of the fifteen wrestlers entered the Hawks had ten champs and five seconds. That is what you would call a perfect day for a wrestling team.
At 103 #4 nationally ranked Sterling Dias won by an 8-2 decision over #1 nationally ranked Rianne Murphy at 103.
Cali Leng(124) and Emmily Patneaud(131) have really progressed throughout the season and won Regional titles today.
Also winning titles for the Hawks: Ava Bayless(110), Brianna Gonzalez(117), Nanea Estrella(138), Macey Kilty(145), Kennedy Blades(160), Kylie Welker(180), and Jaycee Foeller(207).
All fifteen of the Hawks that placed first or second are now qualified for the NCWWC National Championships in Coralville, Iowa on March 7-8.
At NCWWC Nationals only ten wrestlers can score points and only one wrestler is allowed to score in each weight class.
In the team race Iowa was in first with 192 points followed by Wartburg at 128 and Simpson at 110 points.
Great job for Iowa as they now prepare to defend their national title.
