Joey Cruz of the University of Iowa has been awarded an at-large berth at 125 lbs. for the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships. There were four at-large bids at 125.
Cruz placed tenth at 125 at Big Tens where there were nine automatic qualifiers.
The addition of Cruz will make nine Iowa Hawkeyes that will be competing at Nationals.
The Hawkeyes have sent at least nine wrestlers for 13 straight years and 17 times since 2007, Tom Brands’ first year as head coach.
This will be the first appearance at the NCAA Championships for Cruz. He is 16-12 this season with three wins against automatic qualifiers.
In the final InterMat Rankings on March 4 Cruz was ranked #15 at 125.
Brackets and seeding for the 2025 NCAA Championships will be revealed during a selection show on Wednesday, March 12 at 7 p.m. (CT) on NCAA.com.
The 2025 NCAA National Wrestling Championships will be in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Thursday-Saturday, March 20-22.
