The Iowa Women’s Wrestling team will take to the mats at the 2024 NWCA National Duals this weekend. The UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls will host 96 teams on Friday and Saturday (Jan 5-6) competing for a team dual national title in both men’s and women’s divisions.

Iowa is the #2 seed in the NCAA Women’s Freestyle division in a 16-team bracket.

The Hawks will open the tournament with #15 seed Adrian College at 2:30 PM Friday. The Quarterfinals are slated for 4 PM Friday. The Semifinals are scheduled for 10:30 AM Saturday with the Finals at 1:30 PM.

Should seeds hold up Iowa would face #3 seed King, the two-time defending champions, in the semifinals. #1 seed North Central is in the top half of the bracket.

There was some confusion on social media from my post yesterday. As I stated in my blog yesterday Iowa is ranked #1 in the Tournament Rankings. This is a dual meet format and Iowa is the #2 seed.

I do not know what to expect for competition as this will be the first big test for the first year program. This tournament will certainly let everyone know how good the Iowa Hawkeyes are in their first year of competition.

I expect Iowa to have their full lineup for the first time this season and to be ready to go.

FloWrestling is covering the entire tournament on their premium service.

I will have a follow up blog with results.
