As a fan it has been great to follow Zach Glazier at 197 this season. In all of my years following Iowa Wrestling I have never had a wrestler basically come out of nowhere to surprise me at this level and have a great year like Glazier did this season.
Glazier is 21-1 with two pins, seven tech falls, five major decisions and is 6-1 vs. ranked opponents.
The only loss for Glazier this season was a 5-1 decision to #1 ranked and undefeated Aaron Brooks of Penn State. That is the only match that Brooks has not scored bonus points in this season.
Yet Glazier is still only ranked #11 in the country. #11?
At 197 the Big Ten has the #1 and 4 ranked wrestlers in the country and nine of the top thirty-three wrestlers. The Big Ten has seven automatic qualifiers at 197.
Glazier is the #3 Pre-Seed at 197.
I am looking forward to seeing how Glazier does at Big Tens and Nationals.
