#2 Iowa will have their season home debut in Carver-Hawkeye Arena against #20 Stanford on Saturday at 1 PM.
For the fourth straight year Iowa has sold out all season tickets for home meets before the beginning of the season. The sold out crowd will be the first to see the Hawks come out of the tunnel from the new wrestling facility.
We have the potential of five matches that will have ranked wrestlers matched up.
The biggest match will be at 165 with #2 Michael Caliendo vs. #3 Hunter Garvin. That match will be worth the price of admission as I am expecting an entertaining match.
Iowa has two wrestlers listed at 125 and 149. Joey Cruz or Kale Petersen will take on #10 Nico Provo at 125. Cruz went at 125 in the season opener last Saturday. As a fan I would like to see Petersen go here because I am looking forward to seeing him wrestle.
At 149 Iowa has #4 Kyle Parco and Caleb Rathjen listed to face # 10 Jaden Abas or EJ Parco. EJ is the younger brother of Kyle.
At 133 #3 Drake Ayala will take on #20 Tyler Knox. #31 Ryder Block will face Aden Valencia or Jack Consiglio at 141. We will see the Iowa Hawkeye debut of #1 Jacori Teemer at 157 where he will face Grigor Cholakyan.
It will be #6 Nelson Brands vs. Lorenzo Norman at 174. Stanford has two ranked wrestlers at 184 with #27 Luke Duthie or #20 Tye Montiero for #9 Gabe Arnold.
197 is a good matchup with #1 Stephen Buchanan vs. #10 Nick Stemmet. #11 Ben Kueter will face Jackson Mankowksi at Hwt.
The dual meet will be live on BTN. Steven Grace and Mark Ironside call the action online at HawkeySports.com via YouTube.
