Keyan Hernandez, Miguel Estrada, and Kael Voinovich won titles at the Luther Open in Decorah, Iowa today. Otto Black who will join the team in January also won a title as well as incoming recruit Leister Bowling.
Hernandez defeated teammate Dru Ayala 4-3 for the 125 lbs. title in the Silver division. Estrada placed first at 149 in the Silver division and Voinovich won the title at 149 in the Elite division. Black won the title at 141 in the Silver division and Bowling won the 174 title in the Silver division.
Bowling, senior at Mead High School in Longmont, Colorado, is in the Iowa Recruiting Class of 2025.
The Silver division was for freshmen only. All of the current Hawks that competed in the Silver division and Voinovich are in the Recruiting Class of 2024.
In the Elite division Aiden Harris placed 4th at 141, Koye Grebel was 4th at 149, Sebastian Robles was 7th at 165 and Aidan McCain did not place at 184.
In the Silver division Brady Benham placed 4th at 165, Brody Sampson was 5th at 197, and Anthony Lavezzola did not place at 125
