We had incoming Iowa Wrestling recruits competing across the country for the opening weekend of high school wrestling.
#1 nationally ranked Isabella Gonzales won the 126 lbs. title at the 48-team RM Parks Invitational in Porterville, California. This was a tough tournament. Gonzales won her first three matches with a first period pin in :25, :49 and 1:04.
In the finals Gonsales won by a 7-4 decision over Me`Kala James (Central). In the November National Girls High School Rankings James was ranked #16 P4P and #2 at 125. Gonsales is #3 in the P4P rankings and #1 at 120 lbs.
Leo DeLuca, Owen McMullen and Leister Bowling did not compete this weekend.
Ty and Jarrel Miller competed at the Ironman in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. This is without a doubt the toughest regular season high school tournament every year.
Ty placed eighth at 175 and Jarrel placed sixth at 190.
Paolo Ciatto was 2-1 at the Ballston Spa Duals at 175 lbs.
