Both teams are loaded with ranked wrestlers. Iowa is #2 in both the tournament and dual meet rankings. Ohio State is #6 in tournament and #4 in dual meet rankings.
Every match will be intense and with a lot on the line.
The first thing that stands out on the Probable Lineups is Jacori Teemer listed along with Miguel Estrada at 157. Teemer has been out of the lineup since he was injured against Iowa State on November 23. Even though I have been impressed with Estrada who does have a great future, I would definitely like to see Teemer return to the lineup.
Joey Cruz is the only wrestler listed at 125 for the Hawks. At 141 we have Ryder Block, Jace Rhodes and Cullan Schriever listed to take on #1 and returning national champion Jesse Mendez.
The best matchup may be at 174 with #5 Patrick Kennedy vs. #6 Carson Kharchla.
Ohio State has several wrestlers listed at multiple weights as well so we will have to wait and see what the matchups are.
With two teams this loaded it may come down to bonus points. I am looking at 184 and 197 for the Hawks with potential to score bonus points.
This would also be a great time for Ben Kueter to get his first win over a top eight ranked wrestler when he faces #6 Nick Feldman at Hwt. Should they start at 125 the dual meet may come down to the last match.
Enough said. As a fan I am excited just writing this blog.
I will state once again that Iowa Wrestling is my entertainment. I plan on being entertained Saturday at 1 PM CST.
Let’s get ‘em in the middle.
