The 2016-’17 schedule was finalized as the Big Ten Network released their coverage schedule. I believe we were all waiting for the exact dates for the Penn State and Ohio State duals. The Hawks will host Penn State on Friday, Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. (all times CT), and Ohio State on Friday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. Both duals are televised by BTN. That is right in the heart of an Iowa winter, but I look for a huge crowd for both of these meets even with TV coverage. Carver will be rockin.
Iowa will also appear on the BTN for road duals at Michigan on Friday, January 6th and Minnesota on Sunday, February 5th. The finals of The Midlands will also be on BTN on Friday, December 30th.
The Hawks will also have a rare home dual on a Saturday night when they host Iowa State on December 10th at 7PM. Hard to believe this dual meet will not be on TV. That is just not right. The Nebraska meet will be on Sunday, February 12th at 2PM in Carver. Start times for the Iowa City Duals on November 18th and the Wisconsin dual on February 3rd have not been set at this time. I will keep you posted.
This should be another home season to remember for Iowa Wrestling fan with so many highly ranked teams coming into town. To host Penn State, Ohio State, and Iowa State in the same year should help Iowa Wrestling retain the title of the best attendance in the country for yet another year. Iowa Wrestling fans are the most dominate force for attendance of any sport in America that I know of.
