Iowa-Nebraska preview with Probable Lineup
The #2 Iowa Hawkeyes will host #4 Nebraska at 7 PM on Friday night in sold out legendary Carver-Hawkeye Arena. I am expecting a loud crowd of Hawkeye fans that will be ready to go.
I look forward to the Iowa-Nebraska meet every year. You can always count on intense wrestling between two programs that do not like each other. A Big Ten border rivalry.
Iowa has only one wrestler listed at 141 with Cullan Schriever and at 157 with Miquel Estrada. Nebraska has two wrestlers listed at 133, 141, and 174.
The biggest match of the night will be at 149 with #4 Kyle Parco vs. #2 Ridge Lovett. I am also looking forward to seeing #5 Gabe Arnold vs. #8 Silas Allred at 184. We can expect it to be close in both matches.
Nebraska is noticeable favorite at 125, 141 and 157 with 149 and 184 being a tossup. With that in mind this could be a close dual meet that will come down to bonus points. Just what you would expect for #2 vs. #4.
This will be an entertaining dual meet from start to finish.
I look for the Hawks to come out strong to a ramped up Friday night crowd.
Letβs get βem in the middle.

Bo is a Hawk!
The title of this blog says it all Iowa Wrestling fans.
Elite recruit Bo Bassett committed to the University of Iowa on Flo tonight.
Bo, because only one name it needed, is the #1 overall recruit in the Class of 2026 and ranked #1 at 145.
From Windber, Pennsylvania, Bo wrestles for McCort Bishop and will be joined as a member of the Iowa Wrestling Recruiting Class of 2026 with his high school teammate Owen McMullen.
Bo is the biggest recruit in the country to come out of high school since Spencer Lee in the Class of 2017. He was a 2021 Cadet world champion and won bronze at the 2024 U20 World Championships.
Bo started out with 80 colleges and narrowed his choice down every week until there were four remaining: Iowa, Penn State, Oklahoma State, and Virginia Tech.
This is great news for the entire Iowa Wrestling Nation.
I am still writing about what I called: βThe shot heard around the worldβ when Spencer Lee committed to the Hawks on April 20, 2016.
I am a little too excited to label this event but I have a feeling I am going to be referring to February 4, 2025 when Bo committed for years to come.
Speaking of which, Bo recently said that Spencer Lee is his favorite wrestler and a big influence on him.
I wrote a blog about Bo in November of 2019 when he was in 6th grade:
As I have done for years I post a blog on Friday for upcoming weekend competitions and a follow up blog with results on my βRecruits in actionβ series.
I am looking forward to adding Bo Bassett to my blogs as I will follow all of his matches along with all of our other incoming recruits.
Congratulations to the Iowa Wrestling program, boosters and fans.
It is an extra special day to be an Iowa Hawkeye.

Recruits in action: Jan 31-Feb 2 RESULTS
I do not have a lot to report here wrestling fans.
My challenges continue this season to find results for our incoming Iowa Wrestling recruits.

Hawks have 5 champs at Grand View Open
The University of Iowa Womenβs Wrestling team competed at the Grand View Open in Des Moines on Saturday. There were 56 teams with nineteen Iowa wrestlers competing in the Gold division and four in the Silver division.
Iowa had five champs in the Gold division with Rianne Murphy(101), Ava Bayless(110), Reese Larramendy(145), Naomi Simon(180) and Katja Osteen(207).
The Grand View Open provided some very good competition for Iowa including several big Hawk vs. Hawk matches.
This was the last competition for Iowa in the regular season so this competition may finalize the lineup heading in the tournament season.
True freshman Naomi Simon continues to tear it up this season by winning the 180 lbs. title by going 4-0 with two pins and two falls.
Another true freshman Valarie Solorio defeated #5 nationally ranked Emilie Gonzalez 8-0 at 110.
This Iowa team has such a loaded roster that there very well could be All Americans not make the lineup.
#1 ranked Macey Kilty(145), Kennedy Blades(160) and Kylie Weker(180) did not compete. Kilty(65 kg), Blades(68 kg), and Welker(72 kg) are registered to compete at the Zagreb Open in Croatia on February 7-8.
