Otto Black announced on Instagram that he has committed to the University of Iowa. Black, from Park, Colorado, won a 138 lbs. 4A Colorado state title this season with a 52-0 record and will be a member of the Iowa Wrestling Recruiting Class of 2024.

Black won a Greco-Roman Junior national title in Fargo last summer at 132 lbs.

Black competed for Ponderosa as a freshman and sophomore where he placed second at 106 in 2021 and fourth at 113 in 2022. He did not compete last season before transferring to Mead.

Black is a teammate of Iowa commit Leister Bowling who won a state title at 175 this season. Black and Bowling led Mead to a 4A team state title. Bowling is a junior and in the Recruiting Class of 2025.

Black is projected to compete at 141/149 for the Hawks.
