Iowa recruits in action: Jan 7-8

Our Iowa Wrestling recruits are back in action to begin the new year with a big weekend of competition. Seven of our recruits will be in Wisconsin Friday and Saturday competing in national level tournaments. Aiden Riggins, Ryder Block, and Brad Hill will be at The Clash Wrestling Duals that are in La Crosse, Wisconsin this year. On Friday, Riggins and Block are in dual meets at 9 AM, 11 AM, and 1 PM and Hill will be in dual meets at 4, 6, and 8 PM. This tournament always produces some great matchups.

Jesuroga, Jesuroga, Martinson, and Martinson will be at The Cheesehead Invitational in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. This is a real tough tournament with teams from five states (WI, MN,IL, MO, and AZ). Great stat from Willie Saylor of MatScouts:

25 of the 30 teams are ranked in their state and 6 are ranked in the Fab 50 National Ranking.

Drake Rhodes will also be in a two day tournament at the La Prowse Invitation in Boseman, Montana on Friday and Saturday.

I am looking forward to reporting results on Gabe Arnold of Wyoming Seminary now that he committed to the Hawks on January 1. However I see that the SEM-Bergen Catholic dual meet for Friday has been canceled.

I will update Day 1 results on my post on Hawkeye Report and have a Results blog after the completion of competition.

I will do my best to bring you results this season for all of our incoming recruits right here on my blog.

The future looks great for Iowa Wrestling.

Iowa recruits in new rankings

Willie Saylor of MatScouts has updated his rankings. What a list of incoming Iowa Wrestling recruits we have to look at. The recent addition of Gabe Arnold makes this list look even more impressive. Arnold is ranked #5 at 170 lbs.

Nate Jesuroga remained at #3 in the P4P (Pound For Pound) rankings and is #1 at 126. Ben Kueter remained #3 at 220 and dropped out of the P4P rankings.

Aiden Riggins remained #1 at 160 and is now #19 on P4P. Brad Hill remained #20 at 195, Ryder Block remained #14 at 138 and Mickey Griffith is still #17 at 182.

Easton Fleshman is #18 at Hwt. and Carter Martinson #19 at 152.

What an impressive list for the Iowa Wrestling Recruiting Class of 2023 with Jesuroga, Block, Arnold, and Kueter. All four of these recruits are ranked nationally. This is the best Junior class to commit in the history of Iowa Wrestling. That is saying a lot.

The future looks great for Iowa Wrestling.
